When Esmay discovered she was pregnant, she could never have imagined she'd become the mother of four children in such a short time. She already had a daughter and noticed her belly growing rapidly during her second pregnancy. "I thought, 'This could be two,'" she says. "Multiples run in the family." But during the ultrasound, it turned out there weren't two, but three.
At 35 weeks, Esmay gave birth to her triplets via a planned C-section. The boys are now eight weeks old, and her life revolves entirely around feeding, pumping , and caring. Yet, she remains remarkably calm about her new life. "I have a lot of support from my family," she says. "They help with the care, especially during busy times. That really makes a world of difference."
Pumping for three babies with a cordless breast pump
After her C-section, Esmay started pumping almost immediately. "Milk slowly started coming in, but I didn't worry about it. After three days, I had enough for all three of them. My body was completely prepared." And after a week, she even had a supply. She now pumps about 1500 to 1600 cc of breast milk daily. "They're drinking almost two liters now, so I'm a little short, but it gives me great satisfaction that I can give them this."
Esmay uses a Youha wireless breast pump , a hands-free pump that gives her the freedom to move around while she expresses. She hardly had any stress about milk production. "I knew my body could do this. It's also healthy for you."
A day with the Youha breast pump
What does a day look like when you're pumping for triplets? "I set the alarm for 6:15 a.m. to pump. That's when the boys are still asleep, and I have the most milk. Both cups are then filled with 240 ml, so 480 cc in the morning." After this morning pumping session, Esmay cleans everything once. Then she stores the pump parts in the refrigerator and reuses them throughout the day.
She used to pump every three hours, now every four. "I pump for half an hour each time. The Youha shuts off automatically, which is very convenient. It allows me to make lunch or do something else in the meantime."

She plans her feedings cleverly: "In the evening, I divide everything into breast milk storage bags for the next day. The boys wake up around seven o'clock and then they get a bottle on the nursing pillow. If there's help, I pick one up. Otherwise, I use rolls and wipes to keep them stable."
Why the Youha pump is ideal for multiple mothers
Esmay is enthusiastic about her Youha breast pump experience. "I would absolutely recommend it. It's comfortable, I can use my hands freely, and I can even bend over. With other pumps that only hold 150 ml, you have to change much more often. This one holds more, and I can see how much milk is in it, even though it has a motor."
Cleaning is also practically adaptable. "Initially, I rinsed everything after each pumping session and let it dry, but then it wasn't always dry in time. Now I do that less often during the day, and that works fine."
She usually pumps on setting 4 or 5. "At first, I could handle a higher setting, but now I prefer a lower one. Luckily, you can easily adjust the strength yourself."
Esmay bought the Youha pump at the Breastfeeding Centre in Hengelo . "I got good advice there. That helped me make a choice I'm really happy with."
Breastfeeding triplets? It's possible!
What's particularly striking about Esmay's story is her confidence in her body, her practical approach, and the calm she exudes. With a good pump, support from her family, and a healthy dose of perseverance, she lovingly raises three boys and her daughter. Her story proves that pumping with a Youha breast pump is not only feasible but also a smart and comfortable choice for any mother, even if you suddenly have three at once.
