The benefits of an electric breast pump
A wireless breast pump has many advantages over a traditional breast pump:
- Freedom : You can pump whenever and wherever you want, without having to rely on an electrical outlet or a fixed pumping location. You can continue your daily activities while providing your baby with the best nutrition.
- Flexibility : You can customize the pump settings to your preferences and needs. Choose from various pumping programs and suction strengths, and control everything easily via the app on your smartphone.
- Discretion : The Youha breast pump is small and fits in your bra. Its quiet design allows you to pump discreetly without causing a noise nuisance.
How do you choose the right breast pump?
Choosing the right breast pump is a personal decision. Consider the following:
-
How often do you want to pump? For regular pumping, an electric breast pump is faster and more efficient than a manual pump.
-
How important is mobility? A wireless breast pump gives you more freedom of movement.
-
How important is comfort? A breast pump with a soft, flexible breast shield prevents irritation and promotes better milk flow.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Breast Pumps
-
How often should I pump?
How often you pump depends on your situation, but there are some helpful guidelines. Immediately after giving birth, it's ideal to pump every 2 to 3 hours, similar to how often a newborn feeds. This helps establish and maintain your milk supply. See our blog post " How often should I pump and when? " for more information on how often and when to pump. -
What are the different ways of pumping?
There are three ways of pumping:- Double-sided pumping: Both breasts are pumped at the same time, which is faster and optimally stimulates milk production.
- Single-sided pumping: This involves pumping one breast at a time, often following an alternating schedule between the left and right breast.
- Manual pumping : This can stimulate milk production and is a good addition to electric breast pumps.
-
What should I do if pumping hurts?
Pumping shouldn't be painful. Always start with a low suction and gradually increase it. Make sure the breast shield is the right size and the nipple is centered to prevent friction. Warming and gently massaging your breast before pumping can be helpful. For sore nipples, you can use a nipple ointment. If pumping continues to be painful, contact a lactation consultant for further guidance. -
What is the maximum length of time you can pump?
Pumping takes an average of 10 to 15 minutes per session, especially when double pumping. Pumping longer to get more milk is usually ineffective and can even cause irritation or damage. Stop as soon as the milk stops flowing, and try again after a short break if necessary. -
How many cc's is normal to pump?
The amount of milk per pumping session can vary considerably. Within two weeks of starting to pump, you can expect to produce 750 to 1000 ml of milk per 24 hours. An average pumping session often produces around 90 to 120 ml per breast, depending on your baby's needs and the postpartum period. If you're unable to pump more than 350 ml per day, consult a lactation consultant. -
How do you know if your breast is empty?
Your breast will feel softer and less full after pumping, and the milk flow will decrease or stop altogether. You can gently hand-pump again to check if any milk is coming out. It's normal for the breast to never be completely "empty," but once the milk flow stops, the breast is sufficiently emptied for that moment. -
How often should you pump at night?
For consistent milk production, it's recommended to pump at least once a night, with a break of no more than six hours. This helps maintain production, as the hormone prolactin, which stimulates milk production, is highest at night.
